Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles are no strangers to awards and accolades. We recently told you that Jeep and Dodge models were recognized as best resale value cars, and all about how Ram set a world record. Now, FCA US can add another accolade to its ever-growing list of praise. The automaker’s Uconnect system was honored with the ‘Infotainment System of the Year’ award from Digital Trends, an industry-leading consumer-technology publisher with the goal of simplifying technology in an increasingly digital world.
“Receiving this prestigious award from Digital Trends is a tribute to the team of hardworking engineers, designers and human machine interface experts who continue to evolve the Uconnect system, features and services,” said Joni Christensen, Head of Uconnect Marketing and Customer Experience, FCA US LLC, in a release. “The Uconnect team’s mission is to assist drivers and help keep them focused on the road.”
And keep drivers focused on the road it does — the incredible 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system uses a clean, responsive interface to make staying connected simple for drivers of all ages. It includes a host of entertainment and audio options for driver and passenger enjoyment, as well as navigation choices for a stress-free journey every time. With Uconnect systems, users also can listen to SiriusXM Satellite radio, take advantage of Travel Link and traffic update services, hear text messages read aloud and even access the internet through a Wi-Fi hotspot subscription.
Digital Trends chose the Uconnect system as its ‘Infotainment System of the Year’ because it boils all the best parts of an infotainment system down into one easy-to-use, accessible package. On Saturday, Ram truck owners gathered at the Ram Truck ‘Round-up’ in Arlington, TX, with the goal of breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest parade of pickup trucks. Drivers from more than seven states, as well as Canada, made the trip down to the Lone Star State for this momentous occasion. Break the record they did — Ram narrowly defeated the previous record of a 438 truck line-up by with 451 dedicated drivers cruising down the parade route.
The Ram Truck Round-up was held in conjunction with the 50th Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. As the official truck of the ACM Awards, Ram invited its loyal customers to help celebrate the show’s anniversary by breaking this Guinness World Record.
Drivers started on the East side of AT&T Stadium and traveled 3.2 miles around it and the nearby Globe Life Park grounds. In addition to being a part of this legendary event, participating Ram owners were given exclusive access to live performances, just for them. Not only did they have the opportunity to witness an epic car-crushing demonstration by the Raminator Monster truck, but they also got their own country concert before the awards show even started. Recording artists Kix Brooks, Thomas Rhett, Easton Corbin and the Austin-based band Midnight Social all took the stage.
Those who participated in the Ram Truck Round-up are dedicated Ram fans who passionately support the notion that the automaker builds the best pickups in the industry. If you want the opportunity to see why those 451 Ram owners love their trucks so much, visit our Ram dealership near Lebanon, NH, and take one of our most popular models for a test-drive today!
Blending class-leading fuel economy with impressive capability, the current-generation Ram 1500 pickup truck appeals to buyers at both ends of the performance spectrum, and that dual threat was highlighted by the debuts of two new models at the Detroit Auto Show this month. On one hand, the 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel HFE will extend the nameplate’s fuel-economy leadership by one mile per gallon on the highway, and on the other, the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel will provide buyers with an aggressive new off-roading option in the full-size truck segment.
By featuring aerodynamic upgrades like class-exclusive wheel-to-wheel side steps and a tri-fold tonneau cover, the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel HFE will raise the bar on fuel economy in its segment from 28 mpg to 29 mpg on the highway. When the new model goes on sale late in the first quarter of this year, buyers will also receive a unique trim on the Ram 1500 Tradesman Quad Cab four-door body, including 20-inch wheels and a 6-foot 4-inch bed. They will also be able to opt for a body-colored fascia pulled from the Ram Express model.
“Both of the new Ram 1500 models will allow buyers to stand out from other owners stylistically, but more importantly, they’ll let drivers either go farther between fill-ups or farther off the beaten path,” said Brian Duval, general manager of Bob Mariano Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, a Ram dealer in Concord, N.H. “The EcoDiesel HFE model will be 12 percent more fuel efficient than its closest competitor in the full-size segment, while the Rebel model will bring a long-anticipated off-road option to fans of the Ram 1500.”
Leveraging the Ram 1500’s segment-exclusive air suspension, the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel receives an extra inch of ride height to tackle greater approach, departure and breakover angles. The steering has been recalibrated for that increased ride height, which combines with 33-inch Toyo Open Country A/T all-terrain tires to give the Rebel model a best-in-class ground clearance of 10.3 inches. Other performance upgrades include specially tuned Bilstein front and rear shocks, skid plates and tow hooks. When it arrives at dealers in the second half of this year, the Ram 1500 Rebel will sport a bold exterior design that will be distinguished by new black-bezel projector headlamps, a blacked-out front grille, black front and rear bumpers and black wheel-arch moldings.
The Ram 1500 pickup has been a hit with critics and consumers alike, and it’s earned even more praise this month from Esquire magazine. Esquire announced in a December 3 press release that the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel was its Truck of the Year, praising it for its towing power and best-in-class fuel economy.
Esquire’s editors looked through all truck models available for sale in the U.S. market, examining stats while rating the vehicles with an eye for the most important elements of a great pickup truck, including value, functionality, efficiency, versatility and style. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel stood out from the pack with its respectable towing power and impressive 28 highway mpg rating — no other full-sized half-ton pickup truck has ever scored as well in the highway cycle test.
“This is where the truck tide turns: a full-sized American pickup with a just-big-enough diesel V-6 — the only one of its kind,” Esquire magazine noted. “You get the fuel economy of a small engine, the pulling power of a larger one and the grumble of a working-class diesel.”
“In such a competitive market, we are thrilled to earn a ‘Truck of the Year’ title from Esquire,” said Bob Hegbloom, president and CEO of the Ram Truck Brand. “The Ram 1500 delivers with a winning combination of best-in-class fuel economy and capability and going forward, Ram will continue to set the pace with the best trucks in their segments.”
