Here in New Hampshire, business owners and hardworking employees know the importance of a durable, powerful truck. That’s why so many shoppers not only in New England but throughout the country have made the 2016 Ram 1500 their clear-cut choice. This truck also has the hardware to back up its popularity, as Automotive Fleet Magazine has officially named the 2016 Ram 1500 the Fleet Truck of the Year. This distinction is a special one, too, as the award winner is selected by the magazine’s reader base, which is made up of more than 20,000 operators and owners of fleet trucks. When it boils down to it, the ones using the trucks day in and day out have voted, and the Ram 1500 is No.1!
“There was little doubt looking at the ballots, that the Ram 1500 is resonating with our readers — commercial fleet managers of the largest fleets in nation,” said Sherb Brown, vice president and group publisher of Automotive Fleet magazine. “Competition in this segment is really tough, but the Ram 1500 edged out the other brands in this year’s voting by delivering the capabilities fleets need for their day-to-day operations.”
From its application effectiveness to its durability to its maintenance and lifecycle costs, it seems the 2016 Ram 1500 simply edges out the competition across the board. It beat out 39 other trucks for the title, making it a true star in a crowded class of refined pickups. Whether you love the variety of trims, the high-quality selection of engines or all the additional work-ready features that can be included, it’s clear the Ram 1500 has that special something that other trucks just don’t.

Blending class-leading fuel economy with impressive capability, the current-generation Ram 1500 pickup truck appeals to buyers at both ends of the performance spectrum, and that dual threat was highlighted by the debuts of two new models at the Detroit Auto Show this month. On one hand, the 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel HFE will extend the nameplate’s fuel-economy leadership by one mile per gallon on the highway, and on the other, the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel will provide buyers with an aggressive new off-roading option in the full-size truck segment.
By featuring aerodynamic upgrades like class-exclusive wheel-to-wheel side steps and a tri-fold tonneau cover, the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel HFE will raise the bar on fuel economy in its segment from 28 mpg to 29 mpg on the highway. When the new model goes on sale late in the first quarter of this year, buyers will also receive a unique trim on the Ram 1500 Tradesman Quad Cab four-door body, including 20-inch wheels and a 6-foot 4-inch bed. They will also be able to opt for a body-colored fascia pulled from the Ram Express model.
“Both of the new Ram 1500 models will allow buyers to stand out from other owners stylistically, but more importantly, they’ll let drivers either go farther between fill-ups or farther off the beaten path,” said Brian Duval, general manager of Bob Mariano Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, a Ram dealer in Concord, N.H. “The EcoDiesel HFE model will be 12 percent more fuel efficient than its closest competitor in the full-size segment, while the Rebel model will bring a long-anticipated off-road option to fans of the Ram 1500.”
Leveraging the Ram 1500’s segment-exclusive air suspension, the 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel receives an extra inch of ride height to tackle greater approach, departure and breakover angles. The steering has been recalibrated for that increased ride height, which combines with 33-inch Toyo Open Country A/T all-terrain tires to give the Rebel model a best-in-class ground clearance of 10.3 inches. Other performance upgrades include specially tuned Bilstein front and rear shocks, skid plates and tow hooks. When it arrives at dealers in the second half of this year, the Ram 1500 Rebel will sport a bold exterior design that will be distinguished by new black-bezel projector headlamps, a blacked-out front grille, black front and rear bumpers and black wheel-arch moldings.
The Ram 1500 pickup has been a hit with critics and consumers alike, and it’s earned even more praise this month from Esquire magazine. Esquire announced in a December 3 press release that the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel was its Truck of the Year, praising it for its towing power and best-in-class fuel economy.
Esquire’s editors looked through all truck models available for sale in the U.S. market, examining stats while rating the vehicles with an eye for the most important elements of a great pickup truck, including value, functionality, efficiency, versatility and style. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel stood out from the pack with its respectable towing power and impressive 28 highway mpg rating — no other full-sized half-ton pickup truck has ever scored as well in the highway cycle test.
“This is where the truck tide turns: a full-sized American pickup with a just-big-enough diesel V-6 — the only one of its kind,” Esquire magazine noted. “You get the fuel economy of a small engine, the pulling power of a larger one and the grumble of a working-class diesel.”
“In such a competitive market, we are thrilled to earn a ‘Truck of the Year’ title from Esquire,” said Bob Hegbloom, president and CEO of the Ram Truck Brand. “The Ram 1500 delivers with a winning combination of best-in-class fuel economy and capability and going forward, Ram will continue to set the pace with the best trucks in their segments.”

Emotions run strong when it comes to describing the vehicle you drive around every day, and when it’s time to buy a new model, it can be helpful to hear whether other people loved or hated the car you’re considering. That’s why Strategic Vision has measured how drivers feel about their rides, asking car buyers to rate their vehicle on a scale from 1 (Hate It) to 7 (Love It). Each vehicle was then given a Love Score up to a top score of 1,000, with the highest-rated vehicle in each category being named to the Most Loved Vehicles in America list. Unsurprisingly, seven Chrysler Group models made the list, topping their respective segments: Continue reading →
Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year award is one of the most coveted honors in the automotive industry. Since 1970, the automotive publication has been choosing the truck that was the biggest game-changer, but the honor never went to the same truck two years in a row. That’s changed now, with the Ram 1500 being crowned the 2014 Motor Trend Truck of the Year just a year after taking home the prize in 2013.
Thanks to the all-new 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel powerplant, the Ram 1500 put up big numbers in observed fuel economy, without sacrificing any of its capability. Impressive torque gave testers reason to praise the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, and Motor Trend said, “That’s the brilliance of this truck: It never feels like it’s trying. The gas-powered trucks spend more time hunting for gears and revving at engine speeds the diesel will never see.” And the Ram 1500 continues to lead the class in just about every category they tested, making it a shoo-in for the win. Be sure to read the rest of the Motor Trend write-up to see how editors put the competitors through their paces and determined the winner.
