Emotions run strong when it comes to describing the vehicle you drive around every day, and when it’s time to buy a new model, it can be helpful to hear whether other people loved or hated the car you’re considering. That’s why Strategic Vision has measured how drivers feel about their rides, asking car buyers to rate their vehicle on a scale from 1 (Hate It) to 7 (Love It). Each vehicle was then given a Love Score up to a top score of 1,000, with the highest-rated vehicle in each category being named to the Most Loved Vehicles in America list. Unsurprisingly, seven Chrysler Group models made the list, topping their respective segments: Continue reading
Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year award is one of the most coveted honors in the automotive industry. Since 1970, the automotive publication has been choosing the truck that was the biggest game-changer, but the honor never went to the same truck two years in a row. That’s changed now, with the Ram 1500 being crowned the 2014 Motor Trend Truck of the Year just a year after taking home the prize in 2013.
Thanks to the all-new 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel powerplant, the Ram 1500 put up big numbers in observed fuel economy, without sacrificing any of its capability. Impressive torque gave testers reason to praise the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, and Motor Trend said, “That’s the brilliance of this truck: It never feels like it’s trying. The gas-powered trucks spend more time hunting for gears and revving at engine speeds the diesel will never see.” And the Ram 1500 continues to lead the class in just about every category they tested, making it a shoo-in for the win. Be sure to read the rest of the Motor Trend write-up to see how editors put the competitors through their paces and determined the winner.
We’ve got a great selection of Ram 1500 models at our New Hampshire Ram dealership, and we’re expecting the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel to start arriving early next year, so be sure to drop by and test out this workhorse of a pickup for yourself! There’s no doubt in our minds that the Ram 1500 is by far and away the best truck on the market, and we are confident you’ll feel the same once you get behind the wheel.
The redesigned 2013 Ram 1500 has quickly amassed a full load of industry awards, but perhaps none are as significant as its latest accolade: 2013 North American Truck/Utility of the Year. While the Ram pickup truck’s other recent awards have come from individual publications, the North American Truck/Utility of the Year award is more far-reaching, decided by the votes of 49 automotive journalists from across the United States and Canada.
Taking home the prestigious award for the first time since 1994, the Ram 1500 emerged from a field of all-new or significantly updated trucks and SUVs after each model was judged on innovation, design, safety, comfort, handling, value for the dollar and driver satisfaction. The 2013 Ram 1500 was announced the winner at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this week, easily besting the two other finalists, the Mazda CX-5 and Ford C-MAX.
“The new Ram 1500 has raised the bar in so many categories in the pickup segment, and that made it a clear choice for North American Truck/Utility of the Year,” said Brian Duval, general manager of Concord, New Hampshire Ram dealership Bob Mariano Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram. “You know you have a good thing going when dozens of journalists can agree on the superiority of your vehicle, and if this latest award isn’t enough proof for skeptics, the Ram 1500 has received several others in the past month.”
Other recent accolades for the new Ram 1500 include the Motor Trend Truck of the Year, Autobytel.com Pickup Truck of Year, Four Wheeler Magazine Pickup Truck of The Year, AOL Autos Truck of the Year and Detroit Free Press Truck of the Year awards. Editors at those publications praised the pickup’s impressive performance, with the Detroit Free Press noting its combination of workhorse capability and fuel efficiency, as well as its luxury and convenience, and Motor Trend lauding its upscale, tech-focused interior.
When equipped with its new 305-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, the 2013 Ram 1500 can return a best-in-class 25 mpg on the highway, while the returning 5.7-liter HEMI V8 can boost output to 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Ram has improved both ride and efficiency with the availability of several segment-first technologies, including an eight-speed automatic transmission, active air suspension, a thermal management system, a stop-start system and pulse-width modulation. Inside, an optional next-gen Uconnect Access System incorporates an 8.4-inch touchscreen and voice recognition to control functions like music selection, hands-free phone calls and navigation with 3-D terrain maps.
“Horsepower and torque alone are no longer enough to seal the deal with truck buyers, and though the new Ram 1500 is more capable than ever, in many ways it feels and rides like a luxury vehicle,” Duval noted. “The Ram 1500 has everything you need to get the job done at the work site, but for the rest of the time, it’s designed to keep you comfortable and connected while being cost-effective on the road.”
There are a variety of factors that consumers consider when purchasing a new vehicle, but when it comes to versatility, cargo space and ride quality, there are three Dodge models that stand out, according to Consumer Guide Automotive. The vehicle-information provider recently dished out Best Buy Awards to the 2013 Dodge Durango, Journey and Grand Caravan in the Large SUV, Midsize SUV and Minivan categories, respectively.
The 2013 Consumer Guide Automotive Best Buy Awards were determined following comprehensive evaluations of vehicles, with criteria including performance, fuel economy, price, features, accommodations, resale value and reliability records. This year, the editors raised the standards for earning a Best Buy Award, resulting in a shorter and more exclusive list.
“With its new Best Buy Awards, Dodge has proven that it is the brand to turn to if you need a vehicle with versatility and cargo space but still want a smooth, quiet ride,” said Brian Duval, general manager of Concord, New Hampshire Dodge dealership Bob Mariano Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram. “That mix makes the Durango, Journey and Grand Caravan all great vehicles for families, with each model offering different levels of those attributes to meet the unique needs of parents.”
Consumer Guide Automotive praised the seven-seat 2013 Dodge Durango for its passenger room and cargo space, which expands to nearly 85 cubic feet behind the first row with rear seats folded, as well as its ride quality, with the SUV’s nearly perfect 50:50 weight distribution and optional all-wheel drive offering agility and surefootedness under most driving conditions. When it comes to capability, the Durango also offers class-leading towing capacity, impressive V6 power and an available 5.7-liter HEMI V8 that churns out 360 horsepower and 389 pound-feet of torque.
While editors noted the spaciousness of the 2013 Dodge Journey midsize crossover as well, they were also struck by the acceleration coming from the 283-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, which still returns up to 25 mpg on the highway. Inside, the Journey’s sleek gauge cluster and control panel impressed Consumer Guide Automotive with its clear and convenient display of useful information, as well as its power sources, USB port and audio input jack for mobile devices.
Like its brand-mates, the 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan earned its Best Buy Award thanks in part to its versatile interior space, including its class-leading cargo capacity and 81 different seating combinations made possible by the second-row Stow ‘n Go seats. Editors also lauded the quietness of the minivan’s cabin, which has available LED reading and accent lights that won’t disturb the driver while providing plenty of illumination for passengers.
“Whether you’re taking the kids and their friends to soccer practice or heading out for a long holiday road trip, all three of Dodge’s latest award-winning vehicles are prepared for whatever family life can throw at you,” Duval noted. “The Grand Caravan offers the most space and comfort, the Durango has all the capability you’ll ever need, and the Journey provides versatility without sacrificing responsiveness.”
