New Virtual Tour Reveals the Innovation Behind the 2015 Chrysler 200

2015 Chrysler 200The Chrysler Group invested nearly $1 billion to revamp its Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) in Michigan for production of the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200, and now the automaker wants its customers to see for themselves just how far that money has gone. Featuring Google Maps Business View technology and narrated by SHAP Senior Manager Shawn Jeffers, a new virtual tour covers the expansive birthplace of the redesigned Chrysler 200, capturing everything from the new body shop to the advanced metrology center through 360-degree interactive films and photography.

Viewable at www.chrysler200factory.com, the Chrysler 200 Factory Tour kicks off with an introductory video from Jeffers and then invites viewers to either explore the plant on their own or take a guided tour with 12 videos that showcase key areas of the facility. Those sections include a modern body shop powered by more than 1,000 robots, a streamlined butterfly-assembly process that gradually connects the two sides of the Chrysler 200’s body, a metrology center that ensures impeccable fit and finish, and a highly energy-efficient paint shop. All told, the SHAP relies on 3,260 workers and encompasses 5 million square feet, or the equivalent of 86 football fields.

“Car buyers often have to base their decisions purely on an automaker’s reputation, but the Chrysler 200 Factory Tour gives drivers an up-close look at the cutting-edge technology and meticulous attention to detail that go into the new model’s production,” said Brian Duval, general manager of Bob Mariano Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, a New Hampshire Chrysler dealer in Concord. “In fact, buyers will be hard-pressed to find another midsize sedan that is not only built with so much modern equipment, but also offers so many advanced features in the car itself.”

The 2015 Chrysler 200 is the first midsize sedan to come standard with a nine-speed automatic transmission, allowing it to return up to 36 mpg on the highway with its base 184-horsepower 2.4-liter MultiAir 2 Tigershark four-cylinder engine. For drivers who live in snowy areas, an optional all-wheel-drive system features an industry-first automatic fully disconnecting rear axle, which provides extra confidence during inclement weather and improved fuel economy when only the front wheels require power. Inside the cabin, the 2015 Chrysler 200 is available with either a five-inch or 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen that controls technologies like Bluetooth Streaming Audio and integrated Voice Command.

The New Challenger Approaches — Jay Leno Test-Drives Dodge’s Latest Muscle Car

Famed funnyman Jay Leno is well-known for his long and fondly remembered stint as the host of the Tonight Show on NBC. Leno is also famous for his incredible collection of classic cars throughout the ages. While he has moved on from his talk show gig — the Tonight Show is now hosted by SNL alum Jimmy Fallon — he hasn’t left behind his favorite hobby. Leno now hosts an online video series called Jay Leno’s Garage. The president and CEO of Dodge, Tim Kuniskis, dropped by Leno’s show to show off the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.

The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is, quite simply, a marvelously monstrous machine. Boasting the incredibly powerful 6.2-liter HEMI engine, the new Challenger is the most powerful muscle car ever constructed. The V8 engine powering it delivers 707 horsepower — more than any Chrysler Group LLC vehicle in history. The crankshaft of the HEMI engine is so durable, it can withstand pressures of 110 bar (1,595 psi). Each of its eight pistons can essentially withstand the weight of five family sedans every two revolutions — multiply that by eight and we’re talking about the total weight of 40 four-door cars!

The engine can be paired with an upgraded six-speed manual transmission or a mighty TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission — the first gearbox of its type ever offered in the Dodge Challenger SRT’s segment. As if the car didn’t command the road enough as it is, Challenger SRT drivers can enjoy total control thanks to the brand-new Drive Modes feature, which alters the driving experience based on three preset settings: Sport, Track and Default. Users can also configure their ride to their liking by selecting the Custom setting.

All told, the vigorous 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is not a car for the faint of heart. Check out the video above and watch Jay take it for a spin! Of course, if it’s more muscle than you really need, feel free to browse the selection of other great Dodge models at our New Hampshire Dodge Dealership.

Ram Becomes First Truck Lineup to Fully Adopt SAE J2807 Tow Standards

2015 Ram 1500Released in 2008 by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the J2807 towing standards were created to place automakers on equal footing when it comes to reporting towing capacity for their vehicles. Even after revisions to the standards in 2010, though, vehicle manufacturers have been reluctant to step into the newly refereed ring. That could change following Ram Truck’s recent announcement that it will become the first brand to adhere to SAE J2807 across its entire pickup-truck lineup, starting with the 2015 model year.

Without SAE J2807 standards in place, automakers are mostly free to test a vehicle’s towing capacity as they please, so it is not surprising that tow ratings often end up lower than initially reported once the SAE’s criteria is introduced. That was not the case, however, with the 2015 Ram 1500, Ram 2500 Heavy Duty and Ram 3500 Heavy Duty, which saw either no changes or improvements in their maximum towing capacities after adopting SAE J2807.

“By becoming the first to align with SAE J2807 across all three weight classes of pickup trucks, Ram is proving it doesn’t have to hide behind biased testing or loose claims from its marketing department,” said Brian Duval, general manager of Concord, New Hampshire Ram dealer Bob Mariano Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram. “The SAE’s standards prevent automakers from finagling a few hundred pounds of towing capacity in order to claim segment leadership, so Ram’s impressive results will finally be able to speak for themselves.”

According to SAE J2807 standards, both V6-equipped 2015 Ram 1500 models feature segment-leading towing capacities, with the gas-powered 3.6-liter Pentastar model rated at 7,600 pounds and the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel edition pulling 9,200 pounds. Among Ram Truck’s heavy-duty offerings, the 2015 Ram 2500 outfitted with the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel engine boasts a best-in-class towing capacity of 17,970 pounds, while the same powerplant in the 2015 Ram 3500 enables a class-topping 30,000-pound tow rating.

The New Chrysler 200 Gets Rave Reviews

2015 Chrysler 200At Bob Mariano, we’re excited to offer the completely redesigned 2015 Chrysler 200, which proudly sports a total makeover that has left reviewers (and customers) with their jaws on the floors.

The most noticeable changes to the new Chrysler 200 involve this sedan’s bold new look. The new design prioritizes a sleek outer appearance and luxury-on-a-budget look for the interior, and reviewers have noticed! “Its stunning good looks, futuristic interior and strong performance characteristics are capable of igniting passion,” raves Deb Semmler of the South Bend Tribune.

Buyers will also be getting a lot of bang for their buck, with great standard features that help those buying on a budget feel like they’re living in the lap of luxury.  “The “why buy” list of features for the all-new 200 goes beyond its sleek bodywork and high-quality interior materials,” says Forbes’ Karl Brauer. “Standard features on the 200 LX, like push-button start, keyless entry and a 9-speed transmission with electronic rotary shifter, feel like high value in a $22,695 vehicle.”

Another new feature of the Chrysler 200 is a nine-speed automatic transmission, which allows for an impressive max of 36 highway mpg. The car is surprisingly powerful, though, and Terry Box of the Dallas News notes that “[w]ith the optional 295-horsepower Pentastar V-6 — the Chrysler Group’s 3.6-liter workhorse — the front-wheel-drive 200 is the most powerful car in the midsize segment.”

Reviewers also praised the responsive and intelligent optional all-wheel drive, a feature not offered on many similar sedans. “The system is clever and maximizes fuel economy by completely disconnecting rear-wheel-drive when it’s not needed,” explains Andre Smirnov of TFLCar.

If you’d like to experience the 2015 Chrysler 200 for yourself (and really, who wouldn’t?), head on down to our New Hampshire Chrysler dealership to take the new car for a test-drive and see what all the fuss is about!
