Dodge Reveals Most Powerful Challenger Yet with New SRT Hellcat Model

2015 Dodge ChallengerWith its refined interior and advanced in-car technology, the latest Dodge Challenger has evolved to be much more than just the number of ponies under its hood, but that doesn’t mean it is leaving the horsepower arms race anytime soon. The recently introduced 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat will be the most powerful production version of the muscle car yet when it goes on sale later this year, churning out more than 600 horsepower through its new supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine.

In situations where owners want to restrict the new SRT Hellcat’s massive output — like when handing the range-topping Challenger off to a new driver or a joyride-minded valet — it will come with a black key fob that limits horsepower and torque, while a red key fob will unlock the muscle car’s full performance potential. For driving enthusiasts who don’t quite need 600-plus horsepower, the new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT offers a more-than-sufficient upmarket alternative, with its upgraded 392 HEMI V8 now producing 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. The 2015 Challenger SRT and SRT Hellcat will feature standard Drive Modes that can tailor functions like shift speed, traction and suspension stiffness, while a new segment-first TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission will be available on both models.

“The new Challenger SRT and SRT Hellcat are basically muscle cars on steroids, but Dodge has equipped each with advanced drive systems that allow drivers to fully harness all that power and stay in complete control on the road,” said Brian Duval, general manager of Concord, New Hampshire Dodge dealer Bob Mariano Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram. “Also, though the engine may be roaring under the hood, passengers will enjoy a peaceful cabin when cruising thanks to the Challenger’s many luxurious offerings.”

Beyond their performance-focused features like a new seven-inch driver-selectable driver information display (DID) screen and a SRT flat-bottomed heated steering wheel, the 2015 Challenger SRT and SRT Hellcat will boast a range of new standard amenities, including redesigned heated and ventilated front seats and an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system. Meanwhile, a new trapezoidal-shaped, stamped-aluminum center console will house a media hub with a USB outlet, an audio jack and an SD card slot under its flocked armrest.
