The 5 Best Jeep Scenes in Cinema History

Rock-solid, versatile Jeep vehicles have been carrying drivers across rocky or dangerous terrain ever since World War II. Nowadays, Jeep vehicles can be found all over the world, in sun-scorched deserts and cloudy suburban driveways alike, but the place they really stand out is on the silver screen in some of the most memorable moments in Hollywood history.

Bob Mariano Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram decided to rank the five best Jeep scenes that moviegoers have ever seen. Keep reading and see if you agree, and don’t forget to shop at our NH Jeep dealership when you want to take home a cross-country cruiser of your own!

#5“Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls”

In 1995’s “Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls,” the second installment in the wacky “Ace Ventura” series, Ace (Jim Carrey) is approached by Fulton Greenwall, a British correspondent who works for a consulate in fictional African country Nibia. Ace drives the two of them, alongside Ace’s pet capuchin monkey Spike, to the consulate in a Jeep Wrangler, taking a crazy shortcut through the jungle and pulling off the worst/best parking job we’ve ever seen.

#4“Twister”

In 1996’s “Twister,” Jo Thornton (Helen Hunt) and her estranged ex-husband Bill Harding (Bill Paxton) hop into a 1982 Jeep pickup and catch up to a tornado on which they plan to use Jo’s new tornado research device, but things quickly go awry when they get too close for comfort. The sight of that tornado bearing down on the couple as they race away in their Jeep took our breath away!

#3“Back to the Future Part II”

In 1989’s timeless second installment of the “Back to the Future” franchise, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) faces some real surprises when he’s thrust into the “far-flung future” of 2015 and gets into trouble with Griff, the grandson of Marty’s father’s arch-enemy, Biff. Marty has a wild chase scene that involves flying skateboards called “hoverboards.” The highlight of the scene is when Marty zooms around, wakeboarding behind a futuristic Jeep (it can fly!). We have to point out that it’s already 2014 and we’re still waiting for those hoverboards – there’s only a year left to start making them!

#2 – “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” –

In the fourth and final installment in the “Indiana Jones”series, Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford), young Henry Williams (Shia Labeouf) and Henry’s mother (Karen Allen) are chased through the jungle by KGB agents led by Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett). During the heart-pounding chase sequence, Henry swordfights with Irina atop the two Jeeps they are driving, with neither vehicle slowing down. It’s an awesome fight sequence – just what you’d expect from an “Indiana Jones” movie!

#1“Jurassic Park”
You may have seen this one coming. “Jurassic Park,” released in 1993, ushered in a new age of special effects and sound design, the likes of which no one had ever seen before (and they still hold up pretty darn well today!). Who can forget the terrifying scene when the Tyrannosaurus Rex lumbers toward Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Godlblum), Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and game warden Robert Muldoon (Bob Peck)? The groundbreaking CGI, sound design and practical effects of this scene earn it the top spot … and that distinctive, red-striped 1992 Jeep Wrangler Sahara YJ is still arguably the most iconic Jeep in movie history!
