The Northwest Automotive Press Association’s (NWAPA) held their 22nd annual “Mudfest” competition this past April, and it was a great day for Jeep vehicles! The 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee 75th Anniversary Edition took home two awards, including the top honor: the Northwest Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year. It was also voted winner of the Family Utility class. Meanwhile, the 2016 Jeep Wrangler 75th Anniversary Edition was voted winner of the Extreme Capability class. The voting was conducted by automotive journalist members of NWAPA who were in attendance.
“For 2016 we made both our on- and off-road courses more challenging,” said Ryan Douthit, event chair and producer of Driving Sports TV. “The Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Grand Cherokee impressed our members with their ability to not only traverse any obstacle, but to do so with a unique sense of style and comfort. That’s why our members not only picked these three as best in their classes, but also selected the Jeep Grand Cherokee 75th Anniversary Edition as our Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year.”
The new 2016 Jeep Wrangler can be customized to your exact specifications, but the most appealing aspect is undoubtedly the series of off-road features you’ll find. The Wrangler boasts a powerful and efficient 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 engine that has 285 horsepower and kicks out 260 pound-feet of torque. The extremely powerful 2016 Wrangler will keep you going as you rev up that engine and maximize all of its capabilities.
The other award-winning vehicle, the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, also provides a bevy of features that will satisfy exploration lovers. When equipped with the Off-Road Adventure Group, the Grand Cherokee earns a Trail Rated badge, which lets you know that it performs admirably both on and off-road.
